I really want to learn how to play the saxophone. Is it something you can learn relatively quickly like the guitar?(i'm guessing no) Got to buy me a sax....

its just the kinda music i play the less i need to press down on the strings the better(ie paul gilbert's stuff, malmsteen etc), it just takes the slightest of touches to let the note fully sound which means i can play faster and still get a good sound. It took a long time tho to get used to it esp. things like sweeps across them but, it has improved my technique alot more, less sloppy.

Not a Bushmaster but Colt. I don't think the design is entirely worthless. Even though it shoots dirty it is still a reliable and accurate rifle. I'm an American, goshdarn it! (I just don't have a 1911 yet). The other items: BHP and Glock 23 (the .40 version of the Glock 19).

So it WAS an HP. Good choice. (Oh, and isn't the Bushmaster just the design type of a CAR 15 in semi auto with a triangular shell deflector without a flash hider? Or is it really the manufactorer o_O Never got into Armalite - always been a CETME/G3 series type of man.)

My father used to own a music shop when he was around. We never got along except when it was dealing with music or hunting. Here's one of the projects we built together - The Rivieque, or as we called it, the Frankenbass.

It's body design is similar to an Esquire with a unique designed neck that was revamped a little from a Music Man Jazz Session. The face plate was cut from scratch along with the frets, nut and bridge + saddles (we ordered the bridge and saddles seperate, and come to find out that the saddles were too big! Whoops. We cut 'em.) The pick up is an EMG Heavy Bass that ran us $500, and the strings are Blue Steel. It's a great sounding baby with perfect balance - great for plucking, slapping or any form of harmonic, but there is one flaw in the design... No battery compartment for the pickup. When it comes time to change the thing, you have to take off the strings and faceplate >.<

I press quite hard with my left fingers so I guess I'm doomed to play slow for the rest of my life. I like Paul Gilbert's stuff. I saw him at an Ibanez promo once and it was pretty amazing. He's one of the few rock guitarists who's not ashamed of doing pop covers and man, can he shred. I tried the electric drill + pick trick he showed on his video. Should've used a cordless drill instead; the AC power supply made my guitar hum like crazy.

All you sax players out there.. which one's better to learn on, a tenor sax or an alto. All I know is that they're in different keys.

To Jules:

Saxophone is an instrument that you can pick up and learn to play. It's nothing like piano and violin which you have to grow into basically. It just takes a lot of practice to get out the tone, artictuation, rythym, etc. My private teacher told me she was a loner when she was a kid and practiced all the scales 4 hours a day. o.o

I'll agree with that except it takes very little practise every day, once you learn how. As long as you keep your chops strong you'll be as good as ever.
